Testing of breeding stock is a important part of keeping the Irish Red and White Setter healthy.

The following tests should be done on all Irish Red and White Setters that are used for breeding.

Hip/Elbow Dysplasia  [certified  OFA or PennHip - PennHip can be done as early as 16 weeks]
CLAD , Canine Leucolyte Adhesion Deficiency [DNA test clear, pups need not to be tested if sire and dam test clear]
PPC, Posterior Polar Cataract  [ certified, recommended to test yearly]
vWD, von Willebrands Disease
Hypothyroidism
